REAR EXTENSION &
VIEWING TERRACE

This house suffered from the typical issues of houses of this era, a short & narrow kitchen, a dark dining room and no connection to the outdoors. We believe this extension and updated terrace offers a modern adaptation of comfortable family living by offering a solution to these issues.
Featuring a simple, linear, and functional design, the space offers a comfortable environment where the client can feel connected to nature while enjoying modern comforts and protection from the elements. By combining clean lines with warm textures, the design creates a seamless indoor-outdoor experience. An open-plan layout allows natural light to fill the interior, providing panoramic views of the lush, green surroundings.
By reconfiguring the upstairs, we were able to find additional space for bedrooms and incorporate new storage solutions. We also brought in new en-suite bathrooms that provide convenience and luxury contributing to the overall experience for the client.
Our goal was to create minimal impact on the original house while introducing a fresh perspective through the new addition. The attached terrace, with its covered external zone and transparent railings, has become a favourite spot for the client to enjoy the outdoors. With the minimal material choice and use of sliding doors, the addition seamlessly transitions between indoors and out and has been a positive change for their evenings, social events and daily living.
Sustainability is a key consideration in the design of this project. Thoughtful use of materials and energy-efficient features ensure minimal environmental impact without compromising on comfort or style, reflecting a commitment to responsible architecture. Smart landscaping choices and furniture arrangements enhance the area's usability.
