DOMESTIC EXTENSION
ILKLEY, WEST YORKSHIRE
This house extension in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, is an example of how thoughtful design can enhance the functionality and impact of a home. By prioritising natural light and focusing on the views, the extension not only provides additional living space but also creates a deeper connection with the stunning local landscape.
Outside, a new terrace extends the living and kitchen space, providing an ideal spot for relaxation. Adjactent to the new kitchen / dining and living space a garage conversion allows for a large integrated utility and laundry room with direct access to the external living areas.
The large floor-to-ceiling glass windows and sliding doors are key elements of our design. They’re strategically placed to ensure that natural light floods the interior, and more importantly, to offer unobstructed views of the Yorkshire countryside. We opted for an open-plan layout that maximizes space and light. The open plan living area, dining space, and kitchen flow seamlessly into one another, creating an inviting environment perfect for hosting parties.
For the master suite, we’ve positioned it to take full advantage of the views utilising continuous large windows following the façade of the rear exterior. The en-suite bathroom is designed with luxury in mind, featuring a freestanding tub, a rain shower, and heated floors. The walk-in closet offers ample space and custom storage solutions throughout the building help to keep everything organized and within reach.
